Hello Baby Alan!!

A few months ago, I took maternity photos of Sabrina and Hua!  Now, they have an amazing new addition to their family, baby Alan.  Congratulations to you both and to the entire family.  Alan is such a little cutie.  He stayed awake for as long as he could until 15 minutes into it he started to fall asleep again.  They're cute when they're awake, they're cute when they sleep, and they make great photos for either.

Cheers!!

The Kings of Fullerton

Meet Susan, Calvin and Peter!  A long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Susan was once my supervisor when I used to make DVD's.  But as everyone moves on, we also stay in touch.  That was one of the things I really enjoyed about my time at Scope Seven was the friends I made and the lasting relationships for years to come.  When Susan asked me to take photos of her family, I couldn't have been happier.

With a tight schedules and busy lives, the only time we could get together for our session was in the middle of the day.  And as many of you know, shooting at Noon is a tough situation as the lighting can be very harsh and bright.  Shadows fill the face, backlit hot spots become your background, and of course it's hot.  But with all photo sessions, you make the best of it, find the best spots, and have a good time.  Not only did we accomplish just that, we also went out to the CSU Fullerton Arboretum and took some photos there as well.  Now I'd never been to this jungle style gardens, but it was truly amazing.  It had trees of all types, wide open spaces, ponds, a few buildings, and best of all, it was free and not very crowded.  I'm definitely going to head back there for an engagement session one of these days.

As we continued our 2 hour session, Calvin rarely looked directly at me.  The times I could get him to look at me, he rarely smiled.  But kids sometimes have a very defined look about them that sometimes is just as intrigueing as a laugh or a smile.  Their stare and seriousness sometimes make the best photos in a sort of contradictory style fashion.  Kids can't always be laughing and playing all the time, as we all know they also get angry, cry, and even fall down and get hurt.  So I got a good variety of everything, but next time I'm bringing more toys.  On top of the family photos, we also got a few of Susan and Peter's newest addition, ready to debut this October.  Congratulations again on the new King, as I'm sure he'll be just as cute as Calvin and hopefully half as energetic.  :-)  Thanks again for everything and hope to catch up with you guys again soon.

Elmo Knows Best

Meet the Gitis!  This laid back friendly family had me over for photos last week and were excellent.  With smiles and great candids, I captured what I felt was a little of everything.  They played Piano, played in the bedroom, sat outside, and pet the family dog.  We even got a chance to go down to the beach for a quick few photos near a very colorful lifeguard tower.  With Elmo in hand for the attention grabber, we walked around on the beach and played in the sand.  It was a great little session with a great family!

Family Portraits in San Pedro

Meet Mingli, Sarah, and Mark.  The wonderful family in San Pedro that invited me into their home for a 1 hour family portrait session.  I honestly love taking family portraits at the families home.  Not only are the kids more comfortable, but a lot of time you can find some great colors, backgrounds, and fun items that make the photo shoot all that more personal.  With a beautiful view of the Pacific and Catalina Island, we captured as many photos as we could even though it was noontime light.  Thank you so much for having me over and I look forward to working with you again in the future.

KoreAm Korean American Journal Cover Contest WINNER!

I have had a dream of having one of my photos on the cover of a magazine.  I am now close to that dream.  I would appreciate any votes towards my photo at the website below.

http://iamkoream.com/koream-cover-contest/

The theme was about Third Generation Korean Americans and having a cover that best illustrates that topic.  Are they Korean, American, or both?  What do they eat, listen to, speak, know about the heritage.  I felt the best and most impact was through a photo that showed a Korean on the inside, but an American flag layer on the outside.

Thanks for all of your support!!  You can vote Daily!!  Spread the word!!  Contest ends Feb 12th, Friday!!!!

UPDATE: I WON!!!  Thanks to everyone for their support and votes!  You all really pulled through and helped me win my first Magazine cover.  Thank you.  The issue comes out in May, along with a short artist bio and photo inside.  Their estimated circulation is around 45,000 magazines, so I'm going to try to get a bunch for those who helped me out.  Thank you again!!
